In recognition of the founding of Illinois’ first public university, Illinois State Normal University in 1857, a new fundraising initiative was launched on Founders Day 2007 to support four student scholarship funds that have been designated as the philanthropy focus for this special sesquicentennial celebration year. Gifts of $150 in celebration of the University’s 150th year will help grow the endowments of four scholarship funds – funds that will ensure financial assistance is available for outstanding students as the University continues on its next historical phase.
A $150 gift to Dollars for Scholars can be paid within one year through monthly contributions of just $12.50. Special campus-wide recognition will be given to Dollars for Scholars donors. Donors may elect to support any or all of the following four scholarships.

The Bowman Fellows are selected teacher candidates who are given the opportunity to develop valuable leadership skills, engage in mentoring relationships with local professional leaders, and participate in training designed to improve the quality and performance of organizations. The selection criteria include leadership, scholarship, and service to the College of Education and Illinois State University, as well as a strong commitment to make a positive difference in their role as future teacher leaders in Illinois schools.

The designation of Bone Scholar is the highest academic distinction that can be achieved by undergraduate students at Illinois State University. Each year, up to 14 Bone Scholars are selected through a rigorous campus-wide competition on the basis of their scholarly achievements and their engagement and leadership in activities, in the university community and beyond

The Olamide E. Adeyooye Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to honor the memory of an Illinois State senior whose life was tragically ended in October 2005. To be eligible, students must be enrolled in good standing at the University, have a demonstrated academic achievement, have demonstrated financial need and will use the funds for educational and/or housing expenses, must have completed at least 30 credit hours at Illinois State, and has demonstrated a commitment to campus and/or community service.
