Development

Development is responsible for fund-raising, coordinating, and leading all department, college, and nonacademic unit efforts.

Development is comprised of the following areas:

Annual Fund

Each year thousands of alumni and friends express their loyalty and interest in the people and programs of Illinois State by making a donation through the Annual Fund.  These funds help supplement public appropriations, tuitions, and fees to help Illinois State provide an environment of excellence and distinctiveness.

Major Gifts

The fund-raising staff seeks to encourage alumni, parents, and friends to make significant gifts in support of Illinois State University. The staff travels throughout the United States to meet members of the Illinois State family.

Corporate/Foundation Relations

Corporate/Foundation Relations works with national and regional companies by furthering the mutual interests of industry and the University. Working with colleagues in a number of colleges, departments, and units on campus, Corporate/Foundation Relations facilitates interactions with industry representatives on behalf of the University in the development of comprehensive, strategic relationships.

Planned Giving

Planned Giving helps donors design charitable gift plans that benefit Illinois State University and allow for the fulfillment of personal financial goals. Besides ensuring a bright future for the University, a properly planned gift may

  • Provide an income for life
  • Reduce or eliminate capital gains taxes
  • Generate a charitable income tax deduction
  • Reduce or eliminate gift and estate taxes
  • Provide a much larger gift to Illinois State University than was ever thought possible

Internal Campaigns

As the University continues annual fund-raising to lay the groundwork for a future comprehensive campaign, University Advancement's efforts must become integrated with daily campus life. Internal Campaigns works directly with the following to grow a culture of philanthropy:

  • New employees
  • Current employees
  • Retirees
  • Campus units
