Types of Donations

Commemorative Giving

Recognize the impact a loved one, friend, or colleague has made on your life.

The Illinois State University Foundation has established a living memorial which honors the memories of those “who have gone before us” and present alumni, faculty, and friends. Through gifts received in their name, scholarships are made available for motivated students.

The recognition wall in Bone Student Center pays a visible tribute to these exceptional individuals— those honored as well as our generous donors.

Endowed Funds

Invest in Illinois State’s future.

An endowed fund is a sum of money that is invested in order to fund a particular project, such as a student scholarship. The initial investment, called the principal, is intended to continue forever, with the investment income from the principal providing perpetual funding. To endow a fund at Illinois State University, a donor must agree to provide a principal of $20,000 and sign guidelines indicating how the earnings on the principal will be used.

Naming Opportunities

Leave a legacy.

Illinois State is committed to recognizing those who have shared exceptional generosity and vision of making the University a top-quality institution. Many naming opportunities exist for our donors, including

  • Scholarships
  • Chairs and professorships
  • Facilities
